Last year (2023 if you’re reading this in the future), we teamed up with the leaders in the world of New York street fashion, Awake NY, to create the “Leopard Sock”—a colorful and audacious print inspired by uptown New Yorkers. Following the success of these socks, we just had to do it again! So here we are, announcing a second drop together with Awake NY. This new drop continues in the same vein as the first, being inspired by American athletic socks worn in the ‘70s and ‘80s. These all-around socks offer a reimagined, modernized take on a classic Americana silhouette. We’re calling them the Awake NY Athletic Socks. You can expect the same verve and poise as with the first Happy Socks x Awake NY socks, only this time in an even sleeker presentation for everyday wear.

To celebrate the launch of the new athletic socks, Happy Socks and Awake NY hosted a “game day” in Seward Park on the Lower East Side, NY, with the help of No Routine—a community driven company known for their popular game days in both LA and NY. During the day, our community was invited to play a variety of “feet first”-games, while photographer Rafael Rios captured all the action.

The socks themselves are made by 9-gauge knitting machines, using 30/2 yarn, meaning the end product is a thick and luxurious sock featuring an intricate embroidery of Awake NY's classic "A" logo. Both the heel and toe of the socks are reinforced, making for a long lasting sock, perfect for anyone dabbling in success. Lastly, the sock also comes ribbed and with arch support, ensuring a perfect fit and feel. Truly, a sock for the ages.
